The luxurious 2022 Volvo XC90 SUV has a long list of advanced safety and technology features. What really sets the new XC90 apart is its powerful engine options and a plug-in hybrid powertrain. The T8 Twin Engine all-wheel-drive model has an electric motor integrated with a 2.0-liter turbocharged and supercharged inline four-cylinder engine mated with an eight automatic transmission. It produces 400 horsepower. The XC90's T6 powertrain powers the all-wheel-drive with 316 horsepower, and it has a fuel economy of 19 mpg in the city and 27 mpg on the highway. The T5 powertrain gets 250 horsepower and 258 pound-feet of torque from a 2-liter turbocharged inline-four-cylinder.
The 2022 XC90's air suspension system can automatically lower the ride height to improve aerodynamics and fuel economy. The XC90 has a unibody chassis made from high-strength steel with aluminum used for the hood, door panels, and tailgate. The SUV rides on a double-wishbone front suspension and an integral-link rear suspension.
